The club motto is “WE RIDE” and
with the combined trail knowledge of all the clubs members they can sponsor
trail rides at any area in the state.
Most rides are small with 8-10 riders but some like the annual rally are
supported by more than 25 sleds in different groups. Looking at their aggressive
ride calendar it is obvious they love to ride and know the local trails. If you’re
new to the Eielson area and want to learn the trails or if you’re a sourdough
with years of Alaskan experience this club has something to offer.
The club also
funds members to go to Hatcher Pass for advanced avalanche training taught by
the Alaska Mountain Safety Center. The training is funded by the local North
Pole Lions Club. After attending the class NLSC members teach avalanche
awareness training and hands on beacon usage here at Eielson. They also have
beacon packs for check out to any members that have completed the hands on
course.
Club volunteers teach snowmobile Safety and Awareness Training to all
individuals who want to ride on Eielson AFB. This training is required to
operate a snowmobile on base. Upon completion of training a competency card will
be issued.
The club is
open to All, Officers, Enlisted, Guard, or Civilian. Most members are employed
on Eielson but they have several North Pole members that are not affiliated with
the base at all.
We meet monthly the 4th Wednesday at the VFW in North Pole at 6:30pm.
If you or someone you know is interested in joining this snowmobile club,
contact a club officer.
